Kurt Copeland
Kurt had a very different path to becoming a CPA than most other professionals did. Kurt grew up on his family farm in West Texas. In addition to farming, his dad and grandfather were pioneers in the cattle feeding business, building one the the first feedlots on the Texas South Plains in 1962. The Copelands also designed and built one of the first batch feed mixing systems to be used in feedlots. Before, the typical method was to mix feed on the delivery truck. Kurt spent his youth either working in the family's feedlot or farms. After high school, he became interested more in livestock feeds and started a business with one truck and livefloor trailer. A few years later, Kurt formed a corporation with a friend in the same business and because the Vice President and Treasurer of BRKC, Inc. BRKC, Inc. specialized in the sales and transportation of livestock feed commodities and operated a fleet of trucks as well as harvesting and feed processing machinery. After 16 years in the business, Kurt decided to go to college and sold out to his partner.
Kurt received both his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and his Master of Science in Accouting with a concentration in Taxation from Texas Tech University in 2001. Kurt was awarded his Certified Public Accountant license by the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy in 2002.
Currently, Kurt is the board President for the Littlefield Economic Development Corporation and board Treasurer for WesTex Allied Communities, a non-profit organization for economic development. He also serves on the Site-Based commitee for Littlefield Jr High School. Kurt and his family are members of First Baptist Church of Littlefield, TX.
In his spare time, Kurt enjoys motocross racing with his family.
